Skin Pigmentation Disorder
Don’t Worry of Skin Pigmentation Disorder
Many people want flawless skin free from any skin disorders. However, with the plethora of skin products and cosmetics that people use, they might be prone to skin disorders.
One is skin pigmentation disorder. This one is a condition that causes the skin to appear darker or lighter than a normal, blotchy, or discolored skin.
A very common skin pigmentation disorder is age spots. Other skin pigmentation disorder can be quite rare, like for instance albinism.
Skin pigmentation disorder usually occurs when the body produces too little or too much melanin. Melanin absorbs the ultraviolet light, and it creates the skin, hair, and eye color.
At present, scientists are still conducting studies on how and why skin pigmentation disorders occur. The most common causes of skin pigmentation disorder are sun exposure, genetic inheritance, and drug reactions. However, there are also cases when the real reason is still unclear.
Albinism and hyper pigmentation are two well-known skin pigmentation disorders. Albino’s have light skin, pale yellow or white hair, and light blue/gray eyes. This is a recessive inherited trait; most albinos have visual impairments and are more prone to skin cancer.
In hyper pigmentation, the body produces a large amount of melanin making the skin darker that its usual color. There are many causes, and this usually includes drug reactions, too much sunbathing and poor nutrition.
Skin pigmentation disorder affects the outward or physical appearance of a person. Moreover, it does not really affect the health of a person. Nevertheless, just to be sure, most doctors recommend avoiding sun exposure for a long period and using sunscreen.
